AfterShip Warranty alternatives for hardware brands

AfterShip Warranty is an add-on to AfterShip Returns: a branded claim page that starts from an order, eligibility rules, and labels through AfterShip's carriers. If you already use AfterShip Returns, it's a natural fit. Its help docs say it sets one warranty period per order, though, so if your products have parts on different terms, or customers who need answers before they claim, Docutize is built for that, from $49 a month.

AfterShip Warranty's column is from its own website and public listings, linked at the foot of this page. "Not listed" means we couldn't find it there, not that it can't be done. Features and prices change, so check with AfterShip Warranty before you decide.

What AfterShip Warranty does well

It sits inside AfterShip Returns, so claims use the same branded pages, carriers and dashboard as your returns. A customer starts a claim from their order number and email, or from a form for purchases made offline or through dealers, and you can run up to five claim pages for different channels.

Eligibility rules reject claims outside the warranty window or for excluded product types, and a claim moves through its statuses to a repair, a replacement or store credit. Labels come from the Returns carrier network, 72 carriers by AfterShip's count. It also lists product recalls.

Its warranty case study is Goodr, the sunglasses brand: AfterShip says Goodr went from about 8,000 warranty claims in August 2023 to about 2,000 a month a year later, largely by enforcing its one-year window.

Where hardware brands find gaps

One warranty period per order. AfterShip's own help article says multiple warranty periods aren't supported, and suggests setting the longest period among your products. When a motor carries two years and a battery one, that's the detail a hardware claim turns on.

No product registration. Claims start from an order. We didn't find product registration, a record of serial numbers or a spare parts catalogue; a serial number can be collected as a form field.

Claims, not questions. We didn't find a help center, an inbox or repair guides. For a customer's full history, AfterShip suggests linking a help desk such as Gorgias or Gladly.

Pricing you'll need to ask about. The warranty pricing page says Enterprise, contact sales. The Returns pricing page lists a warranty portal in Premium, at $119 a month, and its help docs describe Warranty as an add-on to a Returns contract. Ask which applies to you.

How Docutize is different

Docutize sets warranty months per product and overrides them per part, and registers what each customer owns from your Shopify or CSV orders, so a claim is checked part by part before your team reads it. Labels are bought on your own Shippo account.

The questions that come before a claim are answered too: a help center that answers from your manuals and shows its sources, repair guides with your photos, and one inbox for your team. See how claims work.

To be fair

When AfterShip Warranty is the better choice

You already use AfterShip Returns

Warranty claims sit in the same tool as your returns, with the same carriers, pages and dashboard.

Returns are most of your volume

Exchanges, store credit and a big carrier network are AfterShip's home ground. Docutize treats a return as one request type.

You need to run recalls

AfterShip lists product recall management. Docutize doesn't run recalls.

Questions about AfterShip Warranty and Docutize

Is Docutize an AfterShip Warranty alternative?

Yes, especially for a hardware brand whose products have parts on their own warranty terms, or whose customers need answers before they claim. If you already run AfterShip Returns, its warranty add-on keeps everything in one place.

How much does AfterShip Warranty cost?

Its warranty pricing page says Enterprise, custom, contact sales. The Returns pricing page lists a warranty portal and dashboard in Premium, at $119 a month for 100 returns, and its help docs call Warranty an add-on to a Returns contract, so ask AfterShip which applies. Docutize's plans are $49, $149 and $399 a month. Each includes a monthly claim allowance, and claims over it cost 15¢ each and are never blocked. See Docutize's plans.

Can AfterShip Warranty set a different warranty period per product?

Its help article on warranty periods says multiple periods aren't supported, and suggests configuring the longest one among your products. Docutize sets warranty months per product and overrides them per part where a part differs.
