  1. What you're in for, up front

Difficulty, time and the number of steps on the banner, with the tools and parts listed before the first step.

  2. Your photo, marked up

A measurement with its label, an arrow at the cut, and a text label, drawn on the photo in the image editor.

  3. Notes and Cautions where they matter

Bullets come in kinds. A Caution is red and a Note is blue, and both sit right beside the step they belong to.

  4. Customers can ask questions under any step

Customers comment on the exact step, with photos. Your team answers there, and the thread stays with the step.

  1. Crop, straighten, perspective

A locked 4:3 crop, a straighten ruler, perspective for photos taken at an angle, rotate and flip. What's on screen is exactly what's saved.

  2. Arrows, measurements, circles, boxes, text

Five shapes in eight colours and three strokes, each with a white outline so it reads on any photo. Any tool picks up and moves an existing shape.

  3. Apply, and it's in the step

Undo and redo while you work; Apply to save. The original is still kept in your media library.

  1. A cover and a summary

The collection's image, guide count and time, and whether it's Public, Unlisted or Team only.

  2. Search inside the collection

By title, intro, tools, step titles and bullets, saying where each matched and opening the guide at that step.

Questions about step-by-step guides

Do customers need an account to read a guide?

No. Public guides are open to everyone, and Unlisted ones to anyone with the link. Commenting on a step needs a customer account, so every question has a name on it.

Can I use video?

Not yet. Guides are built from photos and text, with up to three images a step. Video is on the roadmap.

What happens to a guide while I'm editing it?

Customers keep seeing the last published copy. Your edits are private until you publish again, and you can preview them as customers would see them first.

We're on Dozuki. Can we move our guides?

Yes, on every plan. Import from Dozuki reads your site, public guides or private ones with your API token, which is used for the import and never stored, and shows a preview first. Categories become collections, steps keep their photos, bullets and colours, PDFs come along, links between guides point at their new pages, and each guide's view count carries over. Guides arrive as drafts, or published if you choose.
